“During the winter months, don’t be afraid to wear layers: chunky sweaters, hoodies, tailored blazers, chic coats on top and thin long-sleeved tops and tights underneath,” says Tamburin. We love wearing a trench coat over a slip dress because it helps regulate body temperature without sacrificing style.

Slip dresses as stand-alone outfits were a concept that emerged and developed in the 90s. Pay homage to its era by pairing a slip dress with a rugged leather jacket to give the garment “just the right amount of pizzazz,” says Tamburin. For even more grunge contrast, pair super-opaque black tights with chunky heels, platforms or biker boots, she adds.

Once spring arrives, you can replace the leather with a shirt jacket. “Unbutton it when it’s cooler outside and tie it around your waist when you get warm,” advises Tamburin.

If you want to experience a particularly sensual moment, choose a slip dress with thick lace. Bonus points if you have a thigh-high slit to show off your legs and shoes. If you want to show a little less skin, throw on a leather jacket for contrasting color and coverage.

According to Jaymes, ties are one of the must-haves for an event because they’re usually made of shiny satin, which gives them a natural, formal feel. To spice up the look even more, you can simply add accessories. “Add layered necklaces, bracelets, statement earrings, a fun ring and a great pair of heels and you’re set,” she advises.

These days, cowboy boots go with almost everything, including slip dresses. The robust shoes form a beautiful contrast to the delicate garment. Depending on the weather, you may want to add an extra layer, be it a bolero, denim jacket or your favorite outerwear.

Shift to neutral

Wearing a neutral outfit is a great way to make your mood more down to earth. If you want to turn the down-to-earth outfit into a masterpiece, choose accessories such as a headscarf in a shiny leather texture and wear matching trousers underneath. You can also carry a white bag (which is still technically neutral) to add another tone and break up the brown.

Tighten with a belt
